Megan Verkerk
Megan Verkerk joined the Kingston Foot and Ankle Clinic and GaitPro Professional Orthotic Lab in January of 2009. Megan is an Orthotics Lab Technician and also certified in Aesthetics. Her years of valuable experience acquired while working in the health care field have proved to be an excellent asset to our footcare team.
Megan has worked with various computerized gait analysis systems; both corrective and accommodative orthotic appliances. She is proficient in non-weight plaster casting; the method we prefer at the Clinic. She manufactures repairs and alters all of our orthotic appliances.
In short, Megan assesses orthopaedic footwear and foot conditions to identify the best options to meet each patient's needs. She also works with compression stockings - measuring, ordering, fitting and training patients to be self-sufficient in the proper use and maintenance of these therapeutic garments.
Megan also offers limited footcare for patients who do not need the specialized training and skills of the Chiropodist. This service is especially useful for patients who have difficulty with nail cutting, dry heels, and so on ... in short, basic on-going footcare with the additional advantage to the patient of having Megan's experienced eye looking for early signs of trauma, circulation issues, signs of neuropathy or tissue breakdown.
Finally, Megan also offers full range laser therapy for all soft tissue or joint pain, such as arthritis, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and other common ailments.
Megan has excellent communicative skills and patience which allows her to listen to patients' needs and then best formulate a plan that works for them. We are very happy that Megan is an integral part of our complete footcare team!
Tina Johnson
Tina Johnson joined the Kingston Foot and Ankle Clinic in May of 2008. She came to us with an impressive background of years of working in the health care field as an office administrative assistant.
Tina has tremendous organizational and interpersonal skills that enable her to keep our office functioning as efficiently as humanly possible. She handles most of the up-front day to day bookings of patients by computer, telephone and walk-in requests for appointments.
Tina also manages all of the footcare, footwear, orthotics, compression stockings and laser treatment appointments, so that they run as efficiently and seamlessly as possible for patients and staff.
Tina has considerable experience, patience and formidable logistics skills for dealing with patients' issues such as accommodating work schedules, fielding insurance questions and ensuring that our fees are clearly explained right up front. An important aspect of her role at the Clinic is to ensure that patients know exactly what to bring, how long the appointment should take and what they can expect upon arrival. She takes the time to make sure patients know how to get to the clinic and makes sure that their visit is as enjoyable as possible.
It is no exaggeration to say that Tina's attention to detail is the comforting 'glue' that keeps everything running smoothly no matter what challenges arise in our busy environment. We are extremely fortunate to have Tina as part of our footcare team.
