As we can't have summer year round here in Ontario we've given some thought to finding a way to escape the winter blahs! On a recent vacation to Panama we rented a car and became absolutely enchanted with this beautiful country... and we found the perfect house!
Located in Playa Las Lajas, we are 90 minutes away from the boarder of Costa Rica on the largest beach in Central America. This beach is mainly deserted on the weekdays with unimpeded views as far as the eye can see. Authentic German, Italian and Panamanian restaurants are but a lovely stroll on the sand away.
Boating, fishing, scuba diving / snorkeling, white water rafting, bird watching, coffee farms, zip lining, ATV riding, horse back riding, para sailing : all these activities and more are either a short walk or a short car trip away. The Panamanian people are friendly and accommodating. English is generally spoken in the larger centers such as David or Panama City, but of course a Spanish phrase book can come in handy. In any case, your stay at the house includes your host (myself) in a separate apartment above the two car garage.
The house is of course fully furnished and includes maid service as required. Grocery stores are also nearby, and a mobile vendor brings in fresh fruit and produce twice per week. The full details follow the photo gallery:

Rental Details
Playa Las Lajas is located approx 5 hours from Panama City on the Pacific Coast in the Province of Chiriqui. For the technically inclined, here are the coordinates for the house: Playa Las Lajas, 8° 9'47.33"N, 81°51'2.20"W
The town of San Felix is the just an 8$ taxi ride away and is situated on the Pan Americana highway. If traveling by bus from Panama City - this is your stop.
There is approximately 4500 square feet of living space.
An 18,000 gallon swimming pool and the largest beach in Central America are just a few meters beyond.
There are 3 main bedrooms in the house + a den and a upper mezzanine with Queen size bed and large balcony that looks over the pool and onto the beach just 30 meters away.
The beach is exceptional for swimming and novice/intermediate surfing. Rip currents are not a problem at Playa Las Lajas. Surf boards can be rented down at El Mundo Bar (the German bar and restaurant) for a small fee. You'll likely spend an hour or two there each day as the food is sublime and very well priced. They also have free Wi-Fi there so you can be sure you'll meet other travelers there too.
The dining room and kitchen are well equipped to accommodate 4 couples or a large family comfortably.
The living room has a entertainment center with large flat screen TV, stereo and DVD player. Satellite TV is included.

High Season:
December 13 - January 17 $2000.00 per week
Late season:
January 17 - April 18 $1700.00 per week
Specific transportation packages from airport can be discussed as well as other services and amenities.
Prices are in Canadian dollars and are payable in advance. MC/VISA/AMEX accepted.
